Russian ministry wants to extend FAN ID for UEFA EURO in 2021

MOSCOW, Aug 20 (PRIME) -- Football spectators who have already received a visitor identification card, FAN-ID, for the UEFA EURO 2020 matches will be able to use it in 2021 in Russia as the tournament was postponed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a draft order of the Digital Development Ministry released Wednesday.

The draft order “authorizes the user of the FAN ID card, received by a spectator in 2020–2021, for the cases determined by the government of the Russian Federation, at the UEFA EURO 2020 matches, which were postponed till 2021, if the spectator has a ticket…or a document granting the right for a ticket…to the UEFA EURO 2020 matches.”

A ministry spokesperson told PRIME the FAN ID issued in 2020 or 2021 for a test match, if UEFA holds one, and for the tournament matches in 2021 if the ID card owner has a corresponding ticket.

The new UEFA EURO 2020 schedule was confirmed, with all 12 host cities, including Russia’s St. Petersburg, staging the same fixtures as originally planned.

The revised dates were approved by the UEFA Executive Committee on June 17, with the tournament now taking place from June 11 to July 11, 2021.
